In his encyclical, Delixit Nos, Pope Francis wrote,"The symbol of the heart has often been used to express the love of Jesus Christ. Some have questioned whether this symbol is still meaningful today. Yet living as we do in an age of superficiality, rushing frenetically from one thing to another without really knowing why, and ending up as insatiable consumers and slaves to the mechanisms of a market unconcerned about the deeper meaning of our lives, all of us need to rediscover the importance of the heart."
Since Jesus appeared to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1675, the Sacred Heart has been a metaphor of Jesus's unlimited and pure love of humanity. In one of his apparitions, He told her, "Behold this heart that has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself, in order to testify its love."
Our Gathering for January 2026, the first month of this year dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the United States, we will reflect on and discuss the Sacred Heart. What makes the image of the Sacred Heart so relevant to our relationship with our Lord and Savior?
Our Gathering will begin at 5:30pm with dinner. Formation and prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus will follow.
