While teaching in the synagogue at Capurnum, Jesus said, "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst." (John 6: v34). The real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is the primary dogma of the Catholic Faith. When we receive Christ in the Eucharist, we receive His graces, privileges and mercies. We not only receive Him into our bodies, but also into our souls.
This dogma is among the hardest for non-Catholics to accept. In fact, one survey stated that over half of all Catholics do not believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
Our discussion features a Knights of Columbus video, "The Eucharist: Source of Healing and Hope." We will review some discussion questions as well as look over some excellent media from the Catholic Information Services.
Reading material available for download below include two booklets from the Catholic Information Service, How Catholics Pray: The Eucharist and The Eucharist: Sacrament and Sacrifice. There is also an article from Catholic Covenant, "Understanding Devotion to the Eucharist." The final artifact is an article from the June 2022 issue of Columbia magazine, "Knights of the Eucharist" which encourages all Knights and Councils to grow and deepen our "devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament."
